Participation Requirements

To be eligible for United Work and Travel’s Intern or Trainee Program, there are several requirements that all applicants must fulfill.

 

 

 

 

As a J-1 Intern applicant, you must be able to prove that you are:

1. Able to function in an English-speaking society (both in a living and host company environment)

2. Either currently enrolled in a college or university outside of the USA, a recent graduate (within 12 months of graduation) with no relevant experience necessary

3. Must be 20 years or older (at the time of USA arrival)

4. Able to arrive in the USA before your Intern Program begins

5. Able to stay in the United States for the duration of your program

6. Must be able to prove sufficient funds for the entire program period

7. Capable of performing the duties and tasks outlined in your training plan (DS7002)

All applicants must also undergo an interview and screening process conducted by a United Work and Travel staff member and by your host company.

As a J-1 Trainee applicant, you must be able to prove that you are:

1. Able to function in an English-speaking society (both in a living and host company environment)

2. You are a university graduate 12 months past graduation with at least 1 year of relevant experience or high school graduate with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

3. Must be 20 years or older (at the time of USA arrival)

4. Able to arrive in the USA before your Trainee Program begins

5. Able to stay in the United States for the duration of your program

6. Must be able to prove sufficient funds for the entire program period

7. Capable of performing the duties and tasks outlined in your training plan (DS7002)
