Certified Pool Operator

Job Description:

Responsible for the function and operation of the facility and for its acceptance by the community in which it is located and by its patrons, present and potential.

Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard and rescue techniques; patron surveillance, emergency preparation, and spinal management An understanding of facility characteristics, rules and regulations, policies and procedures Leadership, management and public relations skills Decision making skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Current certification in the following:

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid
American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Certified Pool Operator

Knowledge and Skills:

Understand current codes and practices established by Health Codes and national aquatic certification agencies

Test and adjust water chemistry to meet standards for oxidation and sanitation

Maintain and interpret operational and recirculation efficiency of various filters and filter media systems

Inspect and assure cleanliness and appearance of the general pool area

RMaintain and sanitize locker rooms, restrooms, showers and pool decks to present no health or accident hazards to others

Check and interpret gauges, flow meters and monitoring equipment for operational efficiency

Understand practices of operation and preventive maintenance for pumps, suction lines, drains, piping, bactericidal equipment, balance tanks, valves, hair and lint and skimmer traps and flow and control switches of each system

Supervise and develop a personnel program

Develop emergency and accident procedures, if not in place

Design administrative practices and procedures for record keeping, evaluations, reports and inventories, if not in place

Be current in the developments of new pool equipment, facility designs and operational techniques Responsibility:
Must keep the premises in safe condition, and the equipment must be fit.

Use ordinary or reasonable care for the safety of patrons and to guard them from injury.
