United Work and Travel Ocean City Hosts International Soccer Tournament
United Work and Travel Ocean City Branch is excited to announce that we will be having our first Soccer tournament of 2012 on Wednesday July 18th at 5:30pm. This is a popular event and with over 60 players representing countries from all over the world.
UWTOCSL (United Work and Travel Ocean City Soccer League) games will be played on 3rd street in Ocean City, Maryland. OC Today, a local newspaper and radio station, will be covering the tournament. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Non-participants are encouraged to attend and cheer for their favorite team.
Update After Tourney
UWTOCFL Held it’s first soccer/futbol tournament on Wednesday, July 18th. It was a great success. Thirty players were on hand as well as some fans and supporters. The games were enjoyed by players and fans alike.
“After years of hanging up my cleats and after my hall of fame induction, I dusted myself off and made my triumphant return to the field. I joined the Blue Team as the goalkeeper. Doug also dusted himself off, only not as much dust as me, and played goalkeeper for the White Team.
The Blue Team played in three games won 2 and lost 1, The white team went 1-1-1, and the red team went 0-1-1. The mighty Blue team was this week’s champion!” -UWTOCFL Player
The players all showed a great deal of sportsmanship and the event was well attended. UWT would like to thank all the fans that came out to support the tourney and all the players that made the event possible.
Special thanks go out to Anne Marie for getting us great uniforms – she also did an amazing job as our time keeper, Amanda, our wonderful photographer, and our scorekeeper Lily. Also, we want to thank Suns of the Beach for hosting the post-game victory party.
The next tournament will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 5:30pm on 3rd street. UWT participants who missed the first tourney are always welcome.
